You Must Do What You Love, No Matter What

Do what you love, no matter what it happens to be. Passion is everything. Follow this passion and do work that excites you.

“Don’t settle … as with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it,” is what Steve Jobs told Stanford University graduates in a commencement address in 2005.

Consultant Carmine Gallo says cook-turned-talk show host Rachael Ray embodies Jobs’ advice. “Rachael Ray did what she loves,” Gallo says. “She was giving cooking lessons at Macy’s, for nothing! She was giving free cooking classes because she loved what she did.”

“Do what you love, no matter what it happens to be.”

Steve Jobs once told a group of employees, “People with passion can change the world for the better.” Jobs has followed his heart his entire life and that passion, he says, has made all the difference. It’s very difficult to come up with new, creative, and novel ideas unless you are passionate about moving society forward.

Asked about the advice Jobs would offer would-be entrepreneurs, he said, “I’d get a job as a busboy or something until I figured out what I was really passionate about.” That’s how much it meant to him. Passion is everything.

I totally agree. If your heart isn’t into something, then you’ll find it difficult to get up everyday and have success at work. Changing the world won’t happen.
